Services
Kith and Kin Association Limited runs 3 service types.
A Community Access Service, a Community Linking Service, and Accommodation
Support. These services are described briefly below:
 |
Community Access
Supporting people with disabilities or a mental illness to access
a variety of experiences, activities and relationships which are
of significance to and valued by the individual. Community access
services promote inclusion and participation of people with disabilities or a mental illness
in community life and the development of relationships between people
with disabilities or a mental illness and other members of the community. Community
access services provide individuals with support and learning opportunities
in everyday, real life contexts. |
 |
Community Linking
Establishing links between residents with a disability or a mental illness
and community members. Community linking is achieved through supporting
people with disabilities or a mental illness to participate in local community activities
in order to develop sustainable relationships. Examples of this
are recreation, social events, education, and vocational
opportunities consistent with each individual’s personal interests and choice. |
 |
Accommodation Support
Providing accommodation support to maintain people
with disabilities or a mental illness in their own home (either the family home or a
home of their own choice) with living arrangements of their own
choice that reflect the conditions of everyday life valued by the
community. Services should provide personal and lifestyle support
arrangements which minimize any difference in living circumstances
from that of the community at large and enable the individual to
live as independently as possible. Accommodation support services
are particularly targeted to people with disabilities or a mental illness who would
not be able to remain in (or move into) the general community without
support. |
