Workshops 2009
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Kith and Kin Association Limited in 2006, the organization held a local art competition for adults with disabilities. An exhibition of the artwork was displayed at the Aitkenvale public library in conjunction with Disability Action Week of that year.
Art workshops were held once a week for several months leading up to this exhibition. These workshops provided people with disabilities in the community the opportunity to express their creativity, gain some insight into, and have access to, the cultural arts. Because of the popularity of the original one-off project, it was decided the art workshops would continue, establishing a regular program now known as ArtWorks! In this time we have held several successful exhibitions. These exhibitions have been held, with the assistance of community grants and funding, in recognition of Disability Action Week and Mental Health Week each year.
